Automatic Welcome Messages
A quick example for each part of Welcomer: welcome message, welcome card, DM, leave message, and auto-roles.
What Welcomer does
Welcomer has four tabs, each on its own switch and completely independent of the others: a welcome message posted to a channel, a private DM, a leave message, and roles handed out automatically on join. Turn on only the ones you want.
See the full referenceExample: welcome message + welcome card
The welcome message posts to a channel as soon as someone joins. Turn on the Welcome Card below it and AutoMod generates a banner image to go with it, with a title and subtitle over a background you choose:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Channel | #welcome |
| Message | 👋 Welcome {user_mention} to the server! You're member {member_count}. |
| Welcome Card: Title | Welcome, {user_name}! |
| Welcome Card: Subtitle | You're our {join_position} member! |
Example: welcome DM
A private message sent straight to the new member, separate from anything posted in a channel. Good for onboarding info that doesn't need to be public:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Message | Hey {user_name}! Thanks for joining {server_name}. Check out #rules and #roles to get started. |
Example: leave message
Posted to a channel when a member leaves. There's no card option here because a former member's avatar isn't reliably available once they've left, so it stays a plain message or embed:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Channel | #server-log |
| Message | {user_tag} has left the server. We're now at {member_count} members. |
Example: auto-roles on join
Give one or more roles automatically when someone joins, with separate lists for members and bots:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| User Roles | Member |
| Bot Roles | Bots |
You've got the basics
Mix and match freely. A common setup is a public welcome message with a card, a DM with more detailed rules, and one auto-role that unlocks the rest of the server.
